Who We Are
Sisters of Mercy are an international community of women religious vowed to serve people who suffer from poverty, sickness and lack of education with a special concern for women and children. The Institute of the Sisters of Mercy includes six geographic communities. The Sisters of the South Central Community spans 18 states, Guam and Jamaica.
Since the beginnings of St. Joseph’s as a sanitarium in 1900, the Sisters of Mercy have been present at St. Joseph’s and later Mission Hospital, providing bedside care and comfort.
