• We have one solid comfort amidst this little tripping about, our hearts can always be in the same place, centered in God, for whom alone we go forward or stay back.

Mercy Prayers

The Sisters of Mercy have many unique prayers that they use as part of their daily lives. We invite you to pray these in solidarity with us.

Suscipe of Catherine McAuley
My God, I am yours for time and eternity.
Teach me to cast myself entirely
into the arms of your loving Providence
with a lively, unlimited confidence in your compassionate, tender pity.
Grant, O most merciful Redeemer,
That whatever you ordain or permit may be acceptable to me. Take from my heart all painful anxiety; let nothing sadden me but sin, nothing delight me but the hope of coming to the possession of You
my God and my all, in your everlasting kingdom. Amen.

Marian Prayer for the Journey (used by the Sisters of the South Central Community during the reconfiguration process)

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was known
that anyone
who fled they protection
implored they help
or sought they intercession
was left unaided.

Our desire
to reshape our community
grows from our call
to reach out with courage and love
to the needy of our time.
Protect our effort
from self-serving motivation.
Help us
consult widely and listen deeply,
so that the new groups we form
and the new shapes we build
will express and extend
God's reign of love over human hearts.
Intercede for us
with Jesus, your son,
who is one with his suffering members.

O Mother of Mercy,
Mother of all Wisdom,
hear and answer us. Amen.

Prayer by Sister Helen Doherty, RSM 2004

Mercy Story

  • For Sister Lee Ann McNally, R.S.M., ministering to prisoners started as a new adventure, but it was also an extension of the work she is sure God had in mind for her right from the start.
