• We have one solid comfort amidst this little tripping about, our hearts can always be in the same place, centered in God, for whom alone we go forward or stay back.

DAY OF REMEMBRANCE:
immigrationTo stand in solidarity with those affected by immigration raids Tuesday, May 12, 2009 will mark the first anniversary of the Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) raid at the Agriprocessors Inc. plant that shattered the small town of Postville, Iowa. That raid and others like it have devastating effects as families are separated and the social and economic fabric of towns is damaged.

Justice for Immigrants Campaign asks all of us to join with the faith community of Postville to remember and to act in solidarity with the nearly 400 workers who were detained because of the raid and with their families who continue to struggle a year later. Wear a red ribbon on May 12 and join in prayer and action for the people damaged by these raids. The bilingual prayer service that will be used in Postville can be found here. Additional information on the impact of the raid and the church's response can be found on the website of the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Iowa.

Mercy Story
