In support of Mercy's critical concern for Earth, the South Central Administrative Offices in Belmont, North Carolina no longer provides bottled water or Styrofoam products. In addition, the maintenance staff has installed motion sensors for lights in restrooms and common areas.

TAKING THE SAINT FRANCIS PLEDGE TO CARE FOR CREATION AND THE POOR
The Catholic Coalition on Climate Change launched the Catholic Climate Covenant that asks Catholics, "Who is under Your Carbon Footprint?" and encourages individuals, families, parishes, schools, and hospitals to take the St. Francis Pledge to Care for Creation and the Poor.
