Sister Susan Frazer recognized for ministry

SisterSusanFrazerSister Susan Frazer, a member of local administration in Jamaica, has been recognized nationally for her contribution to the development of St. John Bosco Boys’ Home in Manchester.

On the advice of Prime Minister Bruce Golding, the Governor-General has conferred upon her the honor of the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer.

The honor was announced on Friday, August 6, which is Jamaican Independence Day, and the Ceremony of Investiture will be held on National Heroes Day on Monday, October 18.
 
 

Mercy Story

  • A handful of nuns remain in health-care system they started.

    As she walks the corridors of St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs clad in a traditional black habit, Sister Dorothy Calhoun is a visible reminder of the hospital’s spiritual heritage.

    A member of the Sisters of Mercy religious order, Calhoun was once one of dozens of nuns serving in hospitals across the state. Today, only six remain at Sisters of Mercy health centers in Arkansas .
